I've not been active in the LPA but would now like to become more involved in the local pagan scene in Leicester.

However, it would seem that the regular monthly meetings at the Globe pub have now finished.

Does anyone know whether there are other groups/individuals in the Leicester area who are active and wanting new members/participants?

Hi everyone

Much to his surprise, Tony's won the the East Midlands round of a photo competition in the Metro. The competition was for a photo to sum up life in the area where we live. Tony thinks it captures the fun and multicultural life of Leicester.

It would be very nice to win £5000 of travel vouchers for the national competition. We'll remember you all while sunning ourselves on some tropical beach, honest.
The photo was taken at the 2006 May Fayre in Castle Gardens (the one with the the handfasting) and shows dancers from the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University, being distracted by me

Dear friends

I was at a meeting between city council officers and the city farm on Friday 8th January.
I was there in a personal capacity and as a friend of the farm. Those who work at the farm and committee members feel under pressure from the city council to agree to give up 10% of the farm land in exchange for a renewal of their lease. The meeting was distressing in that the officers present, the director of housing and the housing department project manager for the Stonebridge Estate scheme, made it plain that to enable a new lease to be agreed the farm would have to agree to giving up 10% of the farmed land for parking for neighbouring housing. Not only this they would have to agree not to challenge any future planning applications which may impact on the farm.

The council officers to justify their position stated that they have under taken a full consultation and have found that 15 neighbours of the 31 next to the farm agree with the scheme. The farm had 10,000 visitors last year. But they do not seem to count.

I am writing to you to encourage you to rally round the farm and defend this project as an essential resource for our communities. The farm has already had meetings with Jon Collins the leader of the council and Jane Todd the chief executive of Nottingham City Council but these discussions have failed to halt the pressure on the farm to agree to the loss of 10% of their land.

Welcome to the sacred space.
The Ceremony will be grounded in the Seasonal Wheel of Britannia

The Goddess will be invoked by the participants as the Lady of Avalon, the Elemental Mothers and the feminine Divine

Please bring some vegetable or flower seeds to share with information/stories and a picture if possible. Also wool, craft materials and sparklies. We will be creating .........

The Goddess inspires Herself as Maiden, and our thoughts turn to our own plans for the future. In this season of Imbolc we Celebrate the Goddess as Maiden Bridie, Brighde, Bridget, Bride. Bridie is the Lady for whom these sacred lands are named, our tutelary Goddess. Brigit-Ana or Britannia.
In the cycle of the year the Maiden inspires and quickens us.
Bridie is the ancient Celtic triple Fire Goddess, revered as St. Bridget and Mary of the Gael, Bridget of the kine and of the healing wells.

There will be time for crafts, sharing and poetry. We actively encourage everyone to be involved with all aspects of the Ceremony.


If you wish, dress in Bridie's colours of white and palest green. Bring something personal to decorate the central altar, remembering to take it home with you.

Minimum donation towards the venue cost £5

We hope that everyone is coping well with the snow! Here's a few updates on what's been going on at SpellCrafters...



Magical Workshops ~ Spring season 2010

A lot of you have been asking when & where the next set of workshops will be happening; well we're pleased to confirm that we now have a venue for SEVEN workshops days!

This season of Magical Workshops will be held at The Art Organisation, in the Anvil Gallery (in the same place we held the Halloween Fayre). They have a Tea Bar onsite and are also looking to start serving food which we hope will be available to us by the time we run the first workshop in March.

The workshops this year are going to be grouped together and presented under an overall theme and run for a full day, on Saturdays roughly once a month throughout the year. We have a fantastic program planned for you including both brand new subjects and old favourites plus the opportunity to join the successful 'Introduction to Practical SpellCraft' and by popular demand Esme will be running some Dragon Energy workshops as 'taster days' with a view to beginning a study group in the Autumn.
